What deal did you get?

Post by Md_halifax »

Hello all,

New member who very nearly signed on a new polo today but decided to consider the deal. My question therefore if you have bought a new polo is what deal did you get? I appreciate that there are currently deals with £500 off and free insurance and service plan all in, but did you guys negotiate any additional discount?

This car is to replace my wifes nearly new BMW 120i sport coupe which is not getting used so we are 'downsizing' in money terms I guess. We also have a scirocco which is the 2.0tsi GT which is just an awesome car. We're after a 1.4 se in White (not my choice), preferably 5 door.

Any advice on deals you got would be fantastic. Looking forward to spending a bit of time on here as I do on the scirocco forums.

Thanks,
Michael

Hi mate,

I've just got a 1.2 SEL TSI in Candy White, I managed to get £1050 discount but this was one the dealer had got to be used as a demonstrator but I purchased it before it was delivered. I'm not entirely sure but I presume you would be able to wangle more discount off one that was in stock rather than a factory order. If you need anything else just ask :)

Hello Alex,

Thanks for your response. Can i just ask, did your deal include the free insurance and servicing also? And did you get anything else, full tank of fuel/mats etc? did you have a p/ex?

Cheers!

Hi mate,

Yes it did, a years free insurance and 3 years free servicing! The SEL model comes with the luxury mats and when I got the car it was half full which isn't too bad :) My p/ex was a 2008 Polo 1.2(70) Match 3dr in Candy White also. Before I confirmed the deal I visited 4 dealerships and each dealer seemed to come up with totally different figures. They might not offer any discount but give you a good value for your p/ex. So you'd be better off visiting a few dealers and getting some deals together and finding out what's the best overall, rather than just the amount of discount!

Yeah, I visited three local dealers and the was a £3k variance in the deal which includes the 120i sport coupe we are trading in. The car we went for was In dealer stock and I pick up this week at some stage tbc. The best advice as ever is to go to multiple dealers.

On my GTI they gave me free gap insurance which is worth £500 apparently. You never really get a deal, because they always put £500 on the display price then when you ask for a discount they can knock it off. Lol

I assume this is for a STD 3 door with no extras from a VW dealer? If so that isnt too bad on the face of it as they are offering a 5% discount. I also assume you are trading in with this level of discount? You should be able to get more if no trade in or get extras thrown in which the dealership has control of eg gap insurance. It's all down to the cost to change rather than just the cost of the car, as each deal if different it's hard to compare.

17900..... That translates to just over $27000 AUD, I'd say that's a pretty good deal!

Yeah white 3dr no extras. No px either. I was also offered a Golf GTD or GTI with 8% discount which is why I was disappointed they couldn't or wouldn't stretch to 8% on the polo

You should be able to get a better deal than you have been offered especially from an online dealer.
