1.2 tsi Rattle

Hi there,

Had my 1.2 tsi sel for about a month now and absolutely love it. However i have an annoying rattle coming from behind the dashboard drivers side when the car is idling. Has anyone any ideas as to what it could be and whether there is a fix and what that fix is? I have read somewhere about rattling fuel lines. The car is booked in at my dealers next week and it would be nice to go armed with my own info as they seemed a bit vague when i booked it in.

Hi mate, I have the same car and I read something on some german forums about the rattle issues with the 1.2 TSI, not just in the Polo but in the Golf and Touran also. I'll try find the thread and post it up for you to have a read.

Many thanks, would like to think VW have come up with a solution, the rattle will eventually drive me mad !!

Few threads here mate. Is your Polo a manual or DSG? The DSG gearbox itself can be the root cause of a rattle or two. Is it when the engine is cold you notice it or just when idling all the time? A lot of the vibration issues seem to be caused when the engine is cold. On the bottom of the threads there's a related topics section, loads of stuff about TSI rattles on there. Hope you find a solution!

Most likely it is the know issue of the AC / fuel lines rattling agains the chassis because the accountants got involved at the building stage. Dealers have a fix of adding another support bracket in to stop it happening:)

Would you have any pics of this bracket, or any more info on where abouts it is fixed please.
