Yup, but you will need 205/45/16 tyres NOT 205/55/16, 55 fitment is for the golf, so seeing as they come without tyres, make sure when u buy rubber for the wheels its the 205/45/16s :)

thanks for the reply mate yer i was happy i got them without tyres... and yer i didnt know whether i could have 205's i didnt want 195 the profile is too low and ruins the ride IMO

205 and 195 refer to the width of the tyre (i.e left the right as you look at it from the rear or front of the car), the 45 and 55 refer to the profile, and unfortuneately that means you have to have the lower "profile" (45) for the tyres on the 16" rim on the polo, where the same rim on the Golf requires 55 profile tyres (larger profile, more comfy ride).

205/45/16 is the tyre size you need to fit 16" Montreals to the Polo.

ahhh thanks for clearing that up mate iv always been confused about understanding tyres LOL!
so could i have 205 40 16 if i wanted too? it would just mean they were a lower profile? or not
