Has anyone herd of or had any experience with a unichip from Dastec?????.
I stumbled across there web site www.dastek.co.za while looking for power improvement for my GTI. Like most things on the web it all sound just a bit to good to be true.

I had one on the scrap G40 I bought as a donor car. Taking off the unichip was one of the first things I did - the way it had been wired in was terrible, and it wasn't wired up such that simply unplugging it disabled it and allowed the car to run as normal. In that respect it was a pain to diagnose faults with my car, plus a waste of time seeing as the original chip inside the ECU can be replaced with a remapped one anyway. Much neater!
On the other hand, if your ECU is difficult to get a replacement chip for then a Dastek might be a worthwhile option. They do have a lot of flexibility, and as an idea it isn't a bad one. I've been told that Nissan Micra modders use them because their ECUs are not 'chippable' or remappable.
