headunit problems

hi,
I wired two 6 by 9 speakers straight into the back of my jvc headunit. My ipod wasnt plugged in all the way, so i had it up loud on the headunit, then pushed it the rest of the way in. Then it played load for a second or two then everyone turned of at the drop of the song. I checked all of the fuses but none of them were blown. Then i checked that there was power into the head unit with one of my dads wire testing tools, two wires had power going into the head unit but it doesnt work. i thought it might just be that head unit but my old one isnt working either. any ideas what i may had broke or am doing wrong ?
