Front Indicator bulb problems?

Post by Ashcroft »

Hi all, in need of some help as I'm a little confused.

I bought some high power LED indicator bulbs...

I fitted them yesterday and when checked them with the hazards so could walk round all of them they was all working fine,
However when I jumped into it and used the indicators they where flashing twice as quick as if a bulb was out (I got out to check and all bulbs was working fine)
So this morning I've looked into putting old bulbs back in and test them.

LED bulb was in 1 side while an old bulb was in other side. (Both at the same time)
Indicator with old bulb flashing normal.
Indicator with LED bulb flashing really quick still
And was the same vice versa,
So it's obviously the bulbs I've bought... Surely it shouldn't make a difference that they've come from hong kong would it?? Surely they'd have same bulbs??

Would it be a big problem if I continued to use them?

Because LEDs use much less power the indicator relay thinks that a bulb has blown and flashes rapidly as a warning.

2 options, fit Load or Ballast resistors.
Or swap the indicator relay for one that is compatable with LED's.
