Road and track tyre? look no further!

Post by Hurdy »

Federal 595RS-R's.

Put them on the Polo GTI today and gave them a thorough test and all I can say is they are probably the best tyre out there for a balance of handling, grip and price. £110 a corner.

I've had Toyo R888's and Toyo R1R's before and the Federals compare well and the reviews say that they last longer than the Toyo's and are more stable.

I'll definitely be buying these again when needed. 8)

Do they fit the standard GTI's wheel?

Have you tried Yokohama AO48Rs? I was considering them for track days, although they are more track orientated than others, not sure how they would cope on the road.

Says on federal website

Proven on the circuit, the 595RS-R is highly acclaimed and much demanded for drifting, sprinting and track-day applications. The sleek design and ultra high performance of the 595RS-R makes it the number one choice for those requiring a motorsport tire but with the assured standards of a street legal tire. Even DOT approved or E-Mark approved Federal competition tyres are designed and compounded for competition use only and are not intended for highway or road use.

So it's to the standards of road legal tyres but not approved for road use?

Have you had your car on track yet? I'm going for Kumho V70A's next by the looks of it.

Still sold as a road legal tyre and still grip better than a normal tyre (in the dry and damp)

Not yet, but the signs are good that they will work well.

You'll not be disappointed with the R1R's. On my ED30 they were very good.
