51 reg Polo E - Speedometer problems

Hi there, I'm new to this forum and noticed a little problem with my polo.

When the engine is switched on and the car is at rest, the speedo needle is about 5mm under 0 mph, this means that my car will be travelling faster than I can read

I will post a diagram to explain my problem, does anyone know of a way to get the needle back to 0 mph?

Hi there mate, yea you pull on the circle ring, very gently and then it pops off, you will brake some plastic clips like i have done but it still fine, after that there is a plastic ring cover, remember where it was, then move the needle up a bit you will feel a difference.... if you want help give me a text

Please could you explain a little more? we were thinking it was the speed sensor at the gear box end and were going to take it to a local garage to get looked at. Did you have a similar problem? If so do you know what was causing it?

sorry for the late reply, i am new to here, no it happened to me because i was cleaning my dials and took them apart
