Ross' GTI

Post by rossdavis »

well ive owned the polo now about 3 years or so and been a member on here for a while so thought i might aswell do a sort of progress thread
so here it is.

bought the car fairly standard just with eibach springs

after a while of owning it i change a couple of interior cosmetic bits

Image

i also did the door grab handle parts in the same 3m carbon .

also got myself a lil sub and built a false floor in the boot

Image
Shot at 2011-10-02

and smoked side repeaters

Image
Shot at 2011-10-03

The wheels were in the usual corrodedstate so was time for a refurb

Image
Shot at 2011-10-02

how the car rolled while i was doing the wheels

Image
Shot at 2011-10-02

so i split them down myself and polished the lips

Image
Shot at 2011-10-02

whilst they were apart i decided to go for a slight colour change

Image
Shot at 2011-10-02

Image

then a few month after this the dreaded gearbox issue, it developed an oil leak and dried aout destroying 5th

Image
Shot at 2011-10-02

so sent it off for a refurb and put back in, then 250 miles later this happened!!

Image
Shot at 2011-10-02

a scrap lorry didnt tie its load down and sent a sheet of metal flying down the dual carriageway at 60mph not fun luckily there insurance paid for this

Image

Image
Shot at 2011-10-02

a new front end consisting of new bumper grills headlights and bonnet respray.

visited the 2010 polo show

also when to editon that year and ended up with a few stickers so sticker bombed the rear window

Image

the next little change was the aerial

Image

mk5 golf style

the next few items started to get more major then just cosmetic
ended up buying this from alex perkins.

Image

Image

gave it a good clean and clay bar also yellowed the fogs.

Image

Image

Image

these were the next purchase

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

i then ended up blowing up my lil sub :(

Image

Image

so bought this off a mate

Image

the floor has now been changed to plain suede but with a layer of faom so the sub is sunken.

then found myself a set of these

Image

Image

set about having them cut and welded to fit the polo and this was the end result

Image

Image

Image

then back to the subtle changes
de sticker bombed and de wipered to leave this.

Image

Image

Image

so thats a quick progress of my polo a few other pieces have changed since but need to get some pictures first.

so it turned out that i needed new pads and disks on the front so much that the pads fell out of their carriers lol
so i thought it was a good idea to upgrade whilst i was at it :)

Image

Image

Image

Image

G60 carriers, brembo max 280 discs and greenstuff pads, abit dusty but they STOP!

I went to a local show "veedub at the pub" with the club im part of

Image

Image

was a good little weekend.

also i found a random bit of pipe lying around so did this for a laugh!

Image

Image

Image

dont worry it has come off lol

i also recentely attended DC12
spent all saturday before cleaning the polo

Image

Image

ready to enter show and shine

Image

Image

surprisingly and i dont really know how but collected my score card for a laugh at end of the day and ...

Image

i came third! unfortunately no prize for 2nd or 3rd in polo class.

also picked up a new sticker lol

Image

the next purchase was a set of 15mm spacers for the rear,

Image

but before i got these fitted this happened :(

Image

parked next to it and it blew over damaging bonnet bumper and pressed plate, i have an unlucky front end and im still in talks to get it fixed by the company whose carpark it is.

still got the spacers on

Image

Image

Image

Image

then developed wheel wobble lol so whilst in my mates garage took this

Image

since then i got some heko wind deflectors but no pics as of yet.
then my most recent purchase was completely impulsively bought while at a local meet i blame Ebay!!

Image

picked them up at 10pm and fitted the fronts by 10:40 pm oops lol couldnt wait.

then gave them a good clean and and fitted the rears

Image

Image

:D

next up is to get the front damage sorted and cosmetic clean up then see what comes really.
