Thank! I was looking at mk6 golf struts thought they would have more power with the boot (im assuming) being heavier than the polo's

Would have thought its more than powerful struts otherwise they wouldnt be easy to close?
I have a power boot on my Chrysler and it has motors to take it up and down.
I am speculating though - I am sure someone knowledgeable will come along shortly.
I would like this mod though ...

You need different struts along with slightly longer strut balls. this alters the geometry of the gas struts, in turn automatically opening your boot when you hold down the trunk button on your remote.

I think you also need to put the car on vcds to re-configure the rear boot lock. As when you pop the boot with the key it dosn't fully release! Try popping it and lift it open with the lower edge of the gate. I would love this on mine.

I think you need scirocco boot poppers the little black things in the corners of the boot opening, seat struts not sure on model?

When i pop my boot and pull up it releases fine so that isnt a problem. I heard toledo struts worked but when i looked them they are shorter than the originals just need to figure out the model. If i hear anything or figure it out i will let you know.

If you press and hold the button, instead of just unlocking, it unlatches the hatch. If you have the correct required geometry of the struts and strut balls, it will automatically open, otherwise the secondary stage of the latch will re-engage as the motor spins back.

The little black things aren't poppers, they just hold the boot at it's desired position at rest. Trust me, I know the hard way that they don't actually compress or provide pop.........
