Haynes Manual

Post by daffy »

I mailed haynes and they told me that they didn't publish and weren't planning on publishing a manual for my car. In fact the manuals that they have are up to and including '99 models (mk4's) and even then only for the 8v engine. I asked them and they said that "we aren't planning on publishing such a manual in the immediate future (6-8 months), but all requests are registered and taken into consideration"....or something along those lines. Basically from what i gathered, if they don't get people requesting a manual, they don't publish it...which is weird cos they have manuals for cars that any sane person wouldn't be seen dead driving (calle me BMW M3 )

So i'm thinking that maybe for a few of the things i want to get done i could use a manual from an 8v model? i'm i right in assuming that for anything non engine related i'd be ok with such a manual? also, what i really need to do now is change clutch. are there differences between the mk4 and the mk5?

and last but not least........does anybody know of any manual for the 16v engine? does anybody have one? i never seem to get this last question answered no matter where i ask :-)

P.S On ebay i see people selling a VW TIS (Technical Info System) which supposedly covers all VW models. Well, it covers all models besides the Polo....unless they use another name for it.

If you look, Haynes are publishing a manual for polos from 2000 on. But I don't know when it will be done.

Perhaps we could get a more basic service guide? A sheet would do.

Well actually they aren't publishing a manual as yet. Their email reply made it pretty clear that they weren't planning on doing one any time soon. But hey! I'm not picky. Whatever I can get my hands on I'll take. Although I'm really on the lookout for some sort of service and repair manual.

the things you've seen on ebay are probably just copies of ETKA (vw parts catalogue)
