Swaping fog and reverse light for export to europe

Post by JeromeC »

Hi,

I'm moving to Switzerland for 2 years and I'm taking my polo 9N3 (RHD 09reg) with me.
Just done a technical assessment here for the import and it looks like i've got to change the headlight (so I don't blind people) and swap the fog and reverse light at the back

Does anybody know the part number for Mainland Europe headlights?

Is there a way to easily swap the fog and reverse light? does it involves rewiring or perhaps recoding of the ICE?

many thanks

The easiest and cheapest way of doing it is to get onto German ebay and find a new right hand side rear light, without the red fog light filter. Fit this to the car with a white reversing bulb, and then swap your UK reversing bulb with a decent quality red LED bulb. Then cross the wires over between them so that it all lights up properly. You get the advantage of the rear lights looking cleaner and more symmetrical from behind and it can easily be reversed to UK spec with a soldering iron and a few minutes time.

That's what I would do anyway.
