coilover help needed

Post by marcevs72 »

i picked up a gti for the mrs not long ago and has had coilies fitted by the previous owner.i have had knocking from the front and on looking i have found that the coilies were the 6n set not 6n2 so the front springs dont fit properly and are being held in place by using a big jubilee clip as a guide for the top of the spring...i even have reciept from the garage that fitted new top mounts/bearings etc 6 months ago stating jubilee clips added as spacers so what a bodge.
i am trying everywhere to find the front 6n2 coilover main springs but most shops dont want to know and quoting £100+ for 2 new front shocks which is daft as only 6 months old.anyone know where i can get either the correct front springs or i have heard of spring top hats that fit the standard coilover spring but the 6n2 top mount.cheers

To be honest i would try and source some new coilovers all together. Finding front springs that match the rate of the rears ones would be tricky i imagine.
