How to Fix Bootlight switch

Hi,
I noticed that the the boot light did not come on, and neither did the dash light to tell me that the boot was open.

So I found out that the switch was located actually on the catch, on the lid. I was told that there are two torx screws on the lid and you yank it off window side first. I found the switch buried deep. I pulled the AMP connector off and it was all crudy and green. So I thought to myself, this has had the dreaded washer hose departure injury.

Anyway, I took the big torx off and the catch and pulled out the switch. I dissassembled the switch to find it was all corroded inside. I cleaned it all up using a screwdriver. I found one of the three contacts was corroded away so I cleaned where it was an made another out of a floppy disk connector. I assembled it and it works. I reassembled the boot lid and catch and the problem is solved. Both the bootlight at the dash light work correctly now.

FYI the partnumber is 6X0 947 569 HLN should you have a similar problem and can't make your own contacts.
