40,000 Mile Service

Post by AJ_7 »

Chaps,

Does anyone know what the 40,000 mile service includes and what sort of price range could I expect to pay at a main VW dealer?

It depends if you're on long life or time and distance, I'd imagine that it would be a major service with the oil, air and cabin filter changed, oil change and ofcourse the other checks they do such as brakes and suspension. I'd get a brake fluid change done too. I think, the service for the major is £250. See if your dealer does any service packages. Ours is on one for £400 that is for 3 years servicing, free MOTs if needed and 10% off all parts.

Hi mate,

Thanks for that info. I queried this yesterday and apparently it's available as an extension for anyone that received the 3 years free servicing. After getting to the nitty gritty it wouldn't be beneficial for me to do it, as I do ~20k miles a year and my car is only two years old. It would cost me £400 for that but only £259+£219 for the 40k and 50k services and my car isn't due an MOT till April 2014 so it didn't prove feasible for me!

Regards,

AJ

I'm due my first service on 9k miles, a bit random i think... as my mates was 16k for first service lol depends what they throw at you, as of price wise i'd go a trusted garage instead of dealer mate... only for the pure fact i think dealers are overpriced
