polo gti hubs.. and brakes on 1.6 sport

Does anyone know if the golf mk4 hubs are the same as polo gti hubs ??
as I can't get big brake upgrade without upgrading the hubs apparently on the 1.6?? is this true? the fronts are 256mm I believe the same as what comes on 1.2/1.4's, wanting 312mm setup I think.

Any help much appreciated!!

This is true, if you want fronts bigger than 256mm you'll need GTI/ PD130 hubs. Not sure about golf mk4 hubs I'm afraid.

Just so you know, the brakes on the GTI are 288mm, people with GTIs can simply bolt on 312s because they have the correct hub.

so pd130 polos also have bigger front hubs?? is that what your saying to? so I could fit gti or pd130 hubs to upgrade front brakes?

Yeah, the 9n3 GTi, 9n3 pd130, 9n GT, Fabia Vrs, Seat Ibiza FR tdi all have 288mm front discs and therefore have the hubs with seperate carriers which allows you to bolt on bigger brakes. The hubs for 256mm discs have carriers built in which means you're stuck with the same size disc.
