Looking for advice on best suspension solution

Hi 1st post be gentle......
I have just bought a 2010 Polo 1.4 SEL as I needed something cheaper to run than my last car (BMW 3 series Convertible) and I am loving the wee Polo. It looks crackin with the black paint and boavista alloys,
BUT I hate the way it looks like a 4x4 especially at the rear!



So I am lookin for the the best suggestion re the suspension that fits my needs. I am happy enough with the way it drives so I am not too bothered about performance (its a 1.4 after all!!) I just want it to look lower with out having to replace my fillings due to a mega harsh ride.

So suggestions lowering springs? With a 25mm front and 40mm rear work with standard shocks Ok ( car has only covered 15k miles and with full VW service history)? Or should I go for a full suspension kit? I'm not too bothered about coil overs as once set I'm not going to be messing about with ride heights.

Anybody know the drop on the VW genuine lowering spring accessory? Is this a better idea? Looking at H&R springs on eBay for around the £130 mark.

All thoughts and suggestions welcome!!

I have the eibach kit, which is the same as the vw official ; http://www.uk-polos.net/view ... 8&start=30

It drives well and isn't too harsh at all, still as comfortable just needs slight more consideration with bumps!

Does anybody have any experience of H&R lowering springs? The reason I fancy them is that they give a bigger drop at the rear which is needed to level the car out! (Ie 30mm front and 40mm rear)

Are they much stiffer and thus very harsh? This is my everyday driver and comfort is a priority...well just behind looking good!!!

I am at the exact same dilemma!....17 inch wheels..huge gap...ride quality! lol

Best number 1 solution, H&R 25/40 , perfect drop, added stiffness but not back breaking (got them on my gti)

i dont like any squeaks and crashy noises in the cabin due to lowering i hate that on my 9n3. i wouldnt go for weitecs, too expensive now, they used to be £450 when i got them and went bust after 1 year

I can vouch for the Eibach Sportlines / 15 - 20's as that's what I'm now running on my GTI. Had the H&R's 35 - 55 which looked awesome but the ride quality was utterly shocking. Felt like I needed a back board when I got out of it Although 15 - 20 doesn't sound a lot, you'd be very surprised just how much off a difference it makes to the look and ride of the car. Plus, Volkswagen sell these as an upgrade out of their accessories brochure so you know they aren't going to start any funny business when it comes to warranty work

I like the sound of that-the fact they are approved by VW.

Can you post up a photo of your car (side on) with them fitted so I can see if they would be low enough for my tastes??

Also was your car a GTI or similar with low suspension to start with (I know this can make a difference to the overall drop)

Running 15/20 on a gti is basically running 30/35 on a normal polo as the gti is already 15mm lower

right?

Nope... They measure from the height of a stock Polo... so it's only 5 mm more than a stock GTI in the front...

Nope... They measure from the height of a stock Polo... so it's only 5 mm more than a stock GTI in the front...

but i measured my car and lowering it 20mm i would still be able to stick my foot in the arch gap
