I want to add fog lamps for my polo 6r

Post by iGold »

Hello,
I have polo 6r and I want to add fog lamps.
I want to buy this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/150779414644?ss ... 1438.l2649
But I am not sure what else I need to get so that the fog lamps work for me.

I have a light switch like that: http://up389.siz.co.il/up1/zuzjqtznymyt.jpg
It dont have a option for front fog lamps like this: http://www.motorbeam.com/wp-content/upl ... Switch.jpg
(The switch I have now is have only option for rear fog lamps)

So my question is what I need to do to get the fog lamps work?
I guess I need to get a light switch with front fog lamps option.
What else? What about wiring?

Thanks alot!

It's actually pretty simple...

You need the foglights and trim like you found on ebay.

Then you need the switch with both rear and front foglights. (Make sure you get the right one with the big 20 pin plug on the back. not with the small 10 pin plug)

And then you need the wiring loom for them. Kufatec has this loom. http://www.kufatec.co.uk/shop/en/volksw ... ction_ms=1

Then it's a case of getting the wires frm the foglights through the firewall and hook it up to fuse 54 and there is another wire in the kit from fuse 54 to the switch. (pin 9 I think) And job done. :)

Excellent Mart!n, to ensure:

Pin 8 front fog lights NL
Pin 9 rear fog light NSL

To switch lights, "for example":

Number 8 is right. :)

Gotta get around to fitting it myself... Had it lying around for a few weeks now. :)

Hey mates!
Thank for answering mart!n and ciclo :D
About the light switch, is this will be good?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GENUINE-3BD-9 ... 2582a38d21

Mart!n, on the link you posted here there is 2 versions (or options) on the site:
"without cornering" or "with cornering light". What is the differences? What should I choose?

More question, there is a note says "Vehicle requires coding after installation".
What coding I need to do? I have no idea in VAG-COM and dont have any tools for that..
Is coding is really required?

You say it just plug&play?
Just for be sure, fix me if I am wrong:
1. assemble the fog lights in the bumper
2. plug the wires to the fog lamps
3. plug one connector to fuse 54, the other side to pin 8 on the switch light
And then fog lamps should work?

By the way, my Polo is trendline. So I am pretty sure that I have the most basic BCM.

Greeting, iGold.

The Auto function won't work on the Polo, because there is much more required for it to work than just the lightswitch. So it wouldn't make sense to buy that one.

But other that that it will work for the functions you need. :) But I woul find one wthout the AUTO. :)

You should pick the one without conering light. It's a much more difficult and expensive process to get conering lights to work. Would require a new BCM which will set you back a few hundred quit...

There is no coding involved... Must be for the cornering lights. But again that is an expensive option to get those to work.

I checked it out, this switch isnt includes the auto option. (for some reason they put a photo with a auto option)

I dont want the cornering option.
So there will be no problem if I have the most basic BCM? (trendline as I mentioned before)
It just to plug the wires as you said before and it should work?

PS,
What is the most cheap store that I can buy those parts online? (OEM parts is prefered)
28.5 USD is good price for OEM switch?
There is a cheaper option istead the wiring you posted here? (I think 34,99 £ for the wiring is a little expensive)

Thank you a lot for answering!

For static cornering lights need a BCM unit reference number 6R0 937 087 or higher.

Diagram fog lights. No daylight without cornering lights.

You can see the reference number bcm in two ways, by vcds or physically.
A link for you to know where is the number.
http://www.carsystems.pl/polo-central-e ... id539.html
A video for you to know where the BCM. Not mine.
https://www.youtube*.com/watch?v=9yagbbCL ... r_embedded

With all the information that has been posted here can install fog lights on your vw polo trendline.
Looking for cheaper prices on ebay or aliexpress. I personally do not seem expensive kufatec wires (already made), ask the dealer (wires, connectors, pins, tape ...)

When you know the reference number of your bcm can ask if you have any doubt.
