How many miles?

Post by Mikeyw »

Just wondering how many miles you can do in your 1.9 TD Sport or any other model?

I'm getting 230 miles in my Golf V5 at the moment.

Well the most I've had out of my 1.9tdi is 370 miles. Consumption has dropped from 52mpg to mid 40's but then I do alot of town stop n' start driving. On the motorways you are looking at 55-60 mpg.

I'm heading up to Wales this weekend so I'm expecting to top 400 miles on one tank of Diesel.

Remember in your V5 a tankfull cost £38-40, the fueltank in a Polo is much smaller tankfull costs £27-29. So fuel consumption is pretty good even if you boot it. It'll be a lot more efficient than the Golf as I found out :)

In my 1.4 Petrol I can do between 280 and 350 miles per tank, depending on what sort of driving I'm doing. But most of the time it's more like 280!

Put it this way I've never ever done less than 340 miles and on £27 that's not bad, I always fill her up before the diesel light comes on. The most I ever did in my V5 was 330, petrol light on and £38 later. I currently save £30 a month in fuel bills.

Right, I'm back from Wales with some great results.

Filled her up before I hit the M4 at Chiswick Junction 1. I mostly drove on motroways and A roads, a mixture of fast and medium paced driving. I managed 474 miles with the fuel warning light on but the computer said there were still 25 miles in the tank.

500 miles should been attainable, can anyone crack that!!!

That should keep you happy Mikeyw!!

Yes it's a 1.9tdi. My fuel light came on at a range of 30 miles left in the tank. I also checked the MPG and it was averageing 62mpg.
