Intermittent electrical issues

Hi,

My 6n2 gti is having a couple of intermittent electrical problems. They only seem to happen when my lights are on, they're things like my headlight washers come on when I brake or my gauge/climate control lights flash when i indicate left. I believe that the problems first started when I got caught in really heavy rain a week ago. Anyone have any ideas about how to fix it?

hmmmm, these issues are always tricky to diagnose. Do you have vagcom access? that would be a good place to start. Have you noticed evidence of water in and around the engine bay ?

My brother has vagcom so I'll plug it in when I next see him. I haven't noticed any, I'll have a closer look. I know electrical problems are really annoying to diagnose, I used to have a classic mini and I basically put a whole new loom in because of electrical issues.
