K&N Induction Kit

Post by sblack650 »

Hi guys, I was about to buy one of these but wanted to see if anyone here had fitted one before or if there are better fliters out there for the job?

Any help appreciated.

What engine is it for? I have that exact one I don't use any more if it's for a 1.4?

Could maybe do a deal

Ah! I have just changed to the GTi from my 1.4 which is why I had a spare one, did you give any consideration to a K&N panel filter?

That's the route I was thinking of going down this time that's all :D

Ended up sticking a K&N cone in. Had it straight on the MAF to start with and it sounded clesss, but put a 90deg bend in it there today to put it into the original air box so it gets a cold air feed, not as much oooossht though.

That's actually quite strange, because I but my K&N that was meant for a 1.4, onto my 1.8T, my new Polo GTi and, same as yourself, put it straight onto the MAF and you are so right! It sounds great!! Really addictive whoosh sound!

I was thinking about putting a 90 degree bend on, do you feel it's better or worse please? I understand about the heatsink issue, but it does not seem to impact on the performance to me, even after a long trip through Mid Wales :-)

I think it was there that I looked and they said that with the 90deg bend gives the best power of all setups, tbh its hard to tell any diffrence on the road and I dont think they saw enough diffrence on the dyno to assume it works better, it does dull down the sound alot though and with the miles I'm doing any improvment on efficiency is good. It was soo loud straight to the maf it was nearly embarrasing, like scaring childeren everytime she goes onto boost loud, but alot of fun.
