Wheel Offset - ET 38 on a 6r gti

Post by funlovincriminal »

Can anyone help,

I'm planning on buying some Mk1 Leon starfish alloys for the Polo to use as winters, (Weird choice I know) on my Polo 6R gti?

They are exactly the same size as the Standard Monza gti alloys, BUT, they have a 38 offset compared to polo's 46.

This means they will have +8mm poke, but How do i know if this is acceptable?

My summer setup is 18x9 ET30, rear wheels are 50mm wider than yours, (and stick out 41mm more than stock wheels) and I have no problems so you should be fine ;)

Good puzzle. No definite answer but:

Do you know of any GTI running 10mm spacers? Do they have any problems?

Could you measure outwards from the existing tyre and make a comparison.

A small amount of stretch would solve any issues too.

Thanks for that,
I would measure the tyre, but I don't have the car yet, it will be delivered mid November I think, but want to have my Winter setup ready to put straight on.

If polodave is not having any issues with a 9j et 30 wheel I think I will just go ahead & buy them. -

I can't find anywhere on the Internet where Leon wheels have been put on a polo 6R

Now to get some winter tyres, 215 / 40 / 17 - This is going to be expensive.

Nankangs are £62 each, but the mid range ones are all over £100 a corner. I've been talked out of Nankangs, but suppose they are right unfortunately, why put cheap tyres on a £20k car!
