2011 GTI Polo will not start. I have owned the car for 1 week. It's under VW warranty until Sep 2014. I had been out in the car and probaly done 12 miles then stopped the car at the shop this afternoon. Lights off and nothing electrical running in the car. Locked it. Came back out 10 mins later. Opened car. Ignition on - dash lights as normal start. Turned key but no noise from starter. Tried lock/unlock. Still no joy - no noise from starter.
Checked voltage - 11.7V. Dropped down to 6V when start attempted.
Tried jump leads - voltage now 13.6V. Turned the key and the difference was that the starter clicked with jump leads on but did not turn the engine.
Car towed home 250 yards to my house and is in the garage on the charger. It's taking about 2 Amps. Will try it agian in an hour.
Anybody else had the same issue with the GTI?

Re: GTI wont start - any similair issues?
I had similar issues with mine after around 1 week of owning it, where it wouldn't start and it hadn't been left for long, I also tried jumping it but that didn't work so I had to call my breakdown cover where he managed to start it using his battery, he told me it may be due to it being sat on the forecourt for a while but I haven't had any issues since and even had VW do a battery check.

If it's under VW warranty then I wouldn't mess with anything, i'd take the car to the dealer straight away. Do you have VW Roadside Assistance? If so I believe if your car is under VW Warranty and there is a fault, they will provide you with a courtesy car and take your car to the dealer.
