Wing mirror cap removal

Post by helloimjammie »

Hello
Just wondering if anyone has successfully removed the mirror caps off the Polo 6r?

Wanting to just plastidip them black (removing them to make the cleanup process less hassle) and them if I liked it eventually gloss black vinyl wrap them

If any can enlighten me that'll be great :)

Thanks

Jamie

Thank you very much for that!

Can I ask where do you find all these diagrams? I see you always post them to help people :)

Do you reckon with even pressure I wouldn't need the tool I could just use my hand?

If you force it you will crack it very easily. If you don't have the tool, use a ruler like I did, move it so it's facing downward as much as possible using the mirror switch and then gently pry it out, then undo the clips like in the image and it should come off easily. Remember when putting it back on to push the clips on or it won't stay in place properly.

Oh okay then mate :)

What kind of ruler did you use just a plastic one or a metal one with cloth over it?

Just a standard plastic ruler with some cloth around it to avoid damaging the heating function, I would abound the metal one to be host as it doesn't have as much give.
