speedo prob
I just noticed this morning when im driving at a steady speed say 40mph...my speedo needle is jumping up and down slightly constantly... What could this problem be?
Re: speedo prob
software based or maybe spark plugs/coilpacks? at a guess...

Re: speedo prob
I dont see what spark plugs would have to do with this?
Mines a diesel anyway but the car itself is at steady speed.. Just the speedo rocking up and down

Re: speedo prob

Excellent reply.greypolo9n3 wrote:Because im looking for people who might have an idea of what they're talking about
Is the speedo drive mechanical? I changed a fiesta speedo drive with the same symptoms years ago, it was a worm drive type thing attached to a cable.
I would imagine it's electronic these days but worth a look?

Re: speedo prob
Oops, username and avatar implied differently! But yeah I'm of the opinion it's the cluster. I retrofitted second hand Highline clocks to a car I used to own and they did exactly the same when the OEM clocks didn't, so can only assume that's where the fault lies.alexperkins wrote:He drives a 6R mate lol

Re: speedo prob
thanks for the help..
i looked more into it...it only does it at lower speeds...
maybe i have a slightly buckled wheel causing it to do this?...is that possible?
I have a feeling it isnt software or the speedo itself......nevertheless always a possibility
