Sound system

Post by Jamesbluegt »

Hi all
Got the polo blue gt coming in a few weeks, but I just thought about something, when I test drove one (dsg) the dealer told me about the Bluetooth connection for music and this was something that swung it for me as I listen to a lot of music especially while driving, is this standard in the BGT though or is it an add on? Also is there any upgrades for quality of sound? Anyone with experience of this here? Iv seen the spare wheel sub but been told it's not available for the BGT?
Thanks in advance for any advice

In my opinion, quality is good enough according to the kind of car and price paid. For sure, the improvement in the last ten years has been very good. In my local market, bluetooth connection comes as standard, but after some days testing it I went to the SD card in order to save cell phone battery. What I am not using at all is the CD unit or the AUX in connect

My Blue GT is also due in a few week and I have been stocking up on info & toys like you

The SoundSystem is expensive and I have read that the standard GT speakers are good enough not to bother with it. I think the reason you can't get it with the BGT is simply because it's the only Polo in the range to come with a proper spare wheel as standard (God knows why they won't give us LED headlights, though...)

I have just ordered a 64Gb SDXC card, which is good for about 10,000 tracks.

Oh yes I didn't mention why I wanted the Bluetooth it's because the aux in my 1.2 60ps polo is shockingly bad. Worst feature of the car and I any seem to think that they would change it really I'll have to get an sd card aswell then, thanks for your input :)

Remember that beyond 32Gb, it has to be an SDXC (i.e. not SDHC).

The BT is standard AFAIK - it certainly is on the 2 MK7 Golfs I have been lent while waiting for my Blue GT, where the quality is perfectly acceptable.

Most of the time I use either an SD card (works well) or the hard wired iPhone connector as that allows me to use the touch screen to browse music, and charges the phone.

The latest VW system is quite impressive really, big screen, capacitative touch, DAB which actually works and a good range of inputs.

I agree with this.
Sound quality is acceptable, but not as good as the standard system in our A6 (but that comes with a sub-woofer as standard).

On the Golf its a special cable. I'm pretty sure the Polo has a usb in the center console cubby and you need to bring your own lead. Hopefully mine will arrive soon and I can tell you for sure!

Yeah it's a usb slot that allows you to plug an iPhone in via the standard apple cable. You can then control it via the headunit. Works really well and the sound quality is good.

When you use the cable with the iPhone

a) do you need to manually disable the Bluetooth audio, and

b) does your Bluetooth phone connection still work correctly?

Thx
