I'd quite like to retro fit the drawer if there's enough room under the seat.

Weird equipment deletes on Blue GT
Anyone know why the Blue GT doesn't have the drawer under the driver's seat? The lower spec Sport does and it has identical seats. Also, the BGT loses the footwell lights...

Oh ok, must be specific to the French market. Weird though...

Re: Weird equipment deletes on Blue GT
The reason there is no drawer under the left seat (Drivers seat in the Continental Europe and passenger seat in the UK) is that the Engine Start/Stop system control unit is located under that seat.
I have installed a drawer under the left seat. But when the seat is in it's lowest possition and all the way back the buttom of the drawer's front panel will hit that box. That's why VW didn't fit it from the factory. ^
I trimmed 5 mm plastic of the bottum of the drawer front panel and it then works perfectly.
(If you don't want to trim the front panel, you can also just pull up slightly in the drawer when you close it.

Re: Weird equipment deletes on Blue GT
Now that's what I call a complete answer. Many thanks for clearing up that mysteryMart!n-GTI-DK wrote:The reason there is no drawer under the left seat (Drivers seat in the Continental Europe and passenger seat in the UK) is that the Engine Start/Stop system control unit is located under that seat...
Still a bit strange that the Sport model has the drawer, though, as it also has Stop-Start. Do you know why the BGT & GTI don't have footwell lights?
Also, how much was the drawer kit and was it difficult to install?

Re: Weird equipment deletes on Blue GT
The drawer and screws was around €90 (as far as I remember).
It's pretty easy. But you have to unbolt the seat.
A good Idea is to unbolt both seats so you can see where the bolts go. Because it is held in place by two different length of screws.
a few month later I bought a new interior for the car with drawers under both seats. So that was a bit of a waste of time and money to install the drawer. But I didn't know I was gonna buy new seats at that time.

Re: Weird equipment deletes on Blue GT
^Thanks

I don't understand how you can fit 2 under-seat trays - desirable as they are - if the stop-start control module is in the way??
Great link to some useful info. Thanks for thatpeter_dk25 wrote:Read this(page 1 & 2):

Like I wrote before:TheFrog wrote:I don't understand how you can fit 2 under-seat trays - desirable as they are - if the stop-start control module is in the way??
The only reason VW doesn't fit it from the factory is because a huge company like VW can't send out a product which has to be modified or where you have to lift the drawer abit to close it. That's bad publicity. But that doesn't meen it won't fit.Mart!n-GTI-DK wrote:I trimmed 5 mm plastic of the bottum of the drawer front panel and it then works perfectly.

(Remember it is only if you have the seat as far back and adjusted all the way down that you can encounter a problem with it hitting the Start/Stop module under the seat.
It is not a huge problem)
