Mk5 Clocks For Mk4

Post by Musicfreek2002 »

Is there a lot of work involved in changing Mk4 clocks for the MK5 ones with the blue dials and red needle?

Didn't someone do a bulb/LED conversion so they looked similar?

well. mk5 clocks, aint never going in a mk4. you'd need the dash, as there soo different, you wouldnt believe.

now, theres a guy on this forum called "col" and he did it, by swapping every led and swapping the needles from a different set. i've also looked into it, and really am not as confident as him, its a very very very very very very difficult and tricky task. one for an expert electronics whizz.

I saw a Mk4 just this weekend that had the GTI dials installed. Looked difficult. Also, it looked unfinished - the GTI dials have these seperate round clocks whereas the Mk4 is one complete unit. You'd need to fabricate a housing for the clocks or it would look a bit nasty. As it did, btw.

I have the MK5 clockd in my MK4, they are a tempory measure until I know whether MK4 golf dials will fit, then, if they do, I'm after some golf gti anni clocks!

Here's a pic, they look unfinished cos I haven't got round to making a surround for them....

Yeah that's how it looked, with the surround missing it looks unfinished.

Big respect for making them work though!

Let us know how you get on.
