6C Alloy Upgrade

Post by CrypticG »

Hi Guys,

Just wondering what people would think of putting these on a white 6C SEL.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/18-GTI-AUSTIN ... 27f641b91a

Or does anyone know if it is possible to buy the Mirabeau that come with the new SEL for £230 if added as an extra?

Thanks in advance!

I know I'm in a minority these days, but to me, black/anthracite wheels just shout "look, I can't be bothered to clean the brake dust off my wheels, so I got these to hide it completely. Problem solved". I also happen to think that non-OE wheels on any car look nasty. Sorry for stirring it... :)

Haha no fair point on the anthracite look. Yeah that's what is putting me off I suppose the fact they are non OEM. I am trying to find the best alternative to the 16" Rivazza that came as standard. Do you know if it is possible to buy alloys from VW? The Mirabeau ones in particular

You have seen that those wheels have a 5x112 bolt pattern?

The Polo runs 5x100.

18" looks too big for a Polo, IMHO. 17" alloys look much better balanced, need cheaper tyres, are more confortable and robust against parking mistakes.
Besides, I'm not a big fan of repicas...better OEM always.

You could ask the dealers about buying some Mirabeau alloys. But I'd expect that they'd not be cheap.

I think 18" looks good on a Polo.

It's stock on the R WRC:
