New & New-to-be 6C Owners

Hi guys, first of all I hope you are all enjoying your cars!

Secondly, I am wondering if people can post what software version they have installed on their composition media system. Mine is terribly laggy at times and I am wondering if they have brought out a firmware upgrade since mine was built in June 2014.

It can be found by navigating to Setup > System Information.

Mine is;
Device part number: 3Q0035842
Hardware: H04
Software: 0105

Media Codec: 1001.112.1.2 prod

Thank you! To confirm is it the standard composition media system that you have?

Why can't they test these bloody things properly before they ship them out to us? :roll:

Probably because they produce 1520 Polo's a day at Pamplona, Spain (63 cars an hour). They do their best job I'm sure but testing to make sure every media system works perfectly in under a minute is quite a hard task!

It's the supplier of these media systems that should do the testing before they ship them to the factory. VW don't make the components, they just assemble them.

Either way, the Media Systems in Polos are universal across all VW's. 18,000 VW's are built every day world wide. Getting to thoroughly test 18,000 media sytems each day requires a huge work force with large facilities. This means that the price goes up due to labour or the residuals go down due to cost cutting.
Basically, I dont think that they do a bad job really! The logistics must be crazy!!

I think the context of "testing" was meant to refer to firmware verification, not the production testing of individual units!

My Cross Polo was made in SA, late 2014

Exactly. The manufacturer of these units should fully test the firmware, before releasing them. Then again, look how many times Apple need to update the iPhone to correct bugs...
