So, I have a spare sub-woofer lying around, and want to try it in my Polo. As someone else has found and I can confirm today, trying to get to the back of your CMS system is near impossible in this car without fully removing the glove box ect which is not something I want to do.
I need to find a pair of speaker wires to use as input. I was thinking the back speakers, but I have no idea how to get at them, or even better if there is an easier place to access the speaker wiring.
I have a 3 door so to get at the speakers I would need to remove that massive bit of trim. Any ideas/suggestions?
I have found lots of wire bundles that are running to speakers, under the trim panel below the door. No idea which to tap though as there is about 20 cables!
Thanks, Rob
Polo 6C sub-woofer help
Re: Polo 6C sub-woofer help
When i wired in my LOC i tapped into the speaker wires in the block connector at the headunit. There was a diagram on the rear of the headunit showing what each wire was. Removing the headunit wasn't hard at all, trim snaps off and headunit was held in with 4 torx screw. This is probably the best method tbh as you can be 100% sure what the wires are.
Unless by CMS you mean the headunit and the 6c is completely different to the 6r...
But looking at pictures of the 6c interior, the trim looks seperate to the buttons and looks to be the same setup as the 6r.
Glovebox was held on by a few torx screws btw, not hard at all to move

Re: Polo 6C sub-woofer help
Unfortunately the 6C head unit is just a dumb screen with a video connector in the back. The block connector is attached to the back of the CD unit in the glove box. The CD unit will not come out fully without removing the glove box.

Polo 6C sub-woofer help
This would be good to see done. I wonder if adding a subwoofer would make the panels rattle more, front and passenger ones anyway..

Oh, sounds like a complicated system.rsmagee wrote:Unfortunately the 6C head unit is just a dumb screen with a video connector in the back. The block connector is attached to the back of the CD unit in the glove box. The CD unit will not come out fully without removing the glove box.
The glovebox wasn't hard to remove, you'll have to remove it for routing the power cable to the battery anyway. It was 2 torx screws on the outside and a few on the inside and it literally falls off, all screws are visible. Have a look at this diagram:

I've added a sub to mine, when I've got it stupid loud something in the boot area rattles really loud, but when its that loud you can't hear the rattle inside. But with the sub turned down to compliment the sound, there's no rattle and it makes the system sound like a factory stereo upgradeCrypticG wrote:This would be good to see done.
