Cambelt change time?
Hi everyone just bought a GTI it's done 123000 and the cambelt was last changed in 2010 at 60k so can I push it for another 5k or is that asking to much?

Re: Cambelt change time?
If you don't know its previous life, I would definately change it. For the sake of a few quid for the kit it could save a lot of time and money over it failing on you.
Re: Cambelt change time?
The service interval was originally 50,000 miles or 5 years. However, there were a few failures and now vw recommends every 30,000 miles or 3 years. I would get it done.

It was actually 60000 or 4 years originally
I too would change it along with the water pump
