Handling

Post by stephguthrie94 »

Hey, I recently bought a polo 6n2 1.4 8v. The handling seems to be quite bad, especially in right hand corners and also when in wet, back end seems like its sliding, even when going round roundabouts at 15mph sometimes, does anyone have any ideas? It passed its mot I. April with no advisories. Thanks in.advance.

Shocks could be worn out, over inflated tyres, under inflated tyres, wrong size tyres, worn out top mounts

Theres a few things to check :)

I had a problem with bumps in the road, road repairs etc. Most times when i hit a bump etc the car would seem to jump about 3" to the left or more, even in hollows in the road it felt bad. However mine had past the MOT but they only check to make sure the shocks are not leaking, eventually it got so bad i had the allignment checked and that was ok.So i replaced the both rear shocks with some Monroes and all is good now :D.I was shown the rear shocks and the one which was causing the problem was the right rear shock not the left which i would of thought would be the faulty one seeing as the car would skip to the left. You could compress one of them with your hand,no resistance what so ever. The guy who replaced them thinks they were the originals so they had done 139K miles.
