Alloy stuck on!

Post by beatty599 »

Before you ask yes the bolts are out :P

So I have BBS CV's on my polo and took them off to paint the calibers, they came off fine. However when driving later on I noticed some 'steering wobble' about 70mph and so I went to take the front two alloys off and check the spigots left one came off fine no bother and the right one is 'stuck' on it wants to come off but it stays on towards the end I don't know why and I had greased the hubs before I put them back on following the painting.

Can anyone give me any advice or how to fix

Have you got a three leg flywheel/gear puller? That should get it off if it pulls away from the face of the hub far enough to get the puller legs behind?

Or, and assuming the spigot is metal (aluminium?), apply some heat from a blow torch to try and expand it and then wiggle off with screwdrivers/pry bar?

Thanks Tooks I'll try the 2nd one and if it fails I'll take it to a tyre shop and get them to do the first one

update
heat didn't work

Took 3 of the wheels off to fix some crap painting on my part, and another was starting to stick to plastered the 3 i got off with multi-purpose grease (lube  ) and then I took the centre cap off the stuck one and hammered the spigot out as that was the only way, so i have some light paint damage to the alloy i'm not too worried about as you cant see it unless you look for it and one destroyed spigot :o , so yeah the spigots were ceasing to the hubs
