Fitting aftermarket speakers to the 6C
Fitting aftermarket speakers to the 6C
So, decided that after fitting a sub, amp and DSP the next step was obviously speakers!
Will be fitting thesehttp://www.focal.com/en/dedicated-drive ... 65-vw.html
They should be plug and play, though the old speakers will need drilling out and the new ones will need riveting. The tweeters will need cut out and then glued. Will be invisible but hopefully very easy to hear!
Anyone done this, got any tips? Have changed the speakers on a Golf MK5 so suspect it will be similar.
Photos will follow when I fit next weekend!

Re: Fitting aftermarket speakers to the 6C
I'll be fitting mine sunday next week, tweeters look like they're gunna be a pain for me, running new wires through the door. Might buy some silent coat to insulate the doors while the cards are off
Re: Fitting aftermarket speakers to the 6C
Was thinking of using a bit of deadening as well. Suspect I will do it on Sunday too! Any reason your not just going to use the factory wiring and location for the tweeters?
Re: Fitting aftermarket speakers to the 6C
Gunna be amping the speakers too
Re: Fitting aftermarket speakers to the 6C
Ah ok. I just used a t harness to send the amped signal via the car wiring. Guess it depends how much power your using.saty wrote:Gunna be amping the speakers too

Re: Fitting aftermarket speakers to the 6C
Are these the recommended replacements for the new Polo 6C GTI speakers too? I'm a bit disappointed with the stereo in mine to be honest and would probably look to install the Focals with Flax drivers as well as a subwoofer, but I'm really not interested in having to rip the trim apart as the car's too new at the moment. I'm not even sure there's enough space in the boot to take a sub...rsmagee wrote:So, decided that after fitting a sub, amp and DSP the next step was obviously speakers!

I guess the amplifier should also be upgradeable more easily as it now sits in the glovebox separate from the CMS Head Unit I believe? Anyone know what experience, if anything, exists in this area and what mods would be suggested? I'm not sure if the car mentioned here has the CMS head unit?

Fitted a sub and amp that integrates directly.

Getting the door cards of is not that difficult, if you look at the pictures in the repair manual to find out where the clips are. You will also need a plastic trim removal tool to open the clips. I have described the process in this thread:saty wrote:Was it difficult getting the door cards off?

There is also a reference to ciclo's thread and the advice he gave me when I was struggling at first. Also links to the repair manual where you will find pictures of the clip locations.
