I have had a couple of strange things with the 'Hazards' recently. The first was to find them 'on' when returning from a shopping expedition. I thought it was the alarm that had gone off but there was no sound and no indication of an alarm as such. The second was yesterday whist sitting in the car waiting to go to the football match to watch my team lose.
The hazards activated for no reason and would not switch off with the button. I was listening to the radio at the time and had to power that down and remove the ignition key before they would shut down.
Has anyone had anything similar or have any idea as the the cause of this problem?

Re: Hazard Warning Lights
That does not sound too good, okay flashing when you got back to the car, might have meant that someone/thing set the alarm off which would have stopped sounding after a certain length of time - but as to what happens to the flashers after that time I don't know for sure, but would think the alarm system is reset completely. Your personal experience sounds like there is a possible fault condition being generated somewhere, sounds like as elsewhere, we can only escape from duff/untested software by returning to live in caves - and that never sounded like a pleasant experience! It is beginning to sound like VAG, or at least VW are rushing new models to market, this time with engines that are okay (please let that be true), but smart module software has been written by idiots. Cetainly I could not have lived with my wife's previous 9N Polo for almost 13 years without having VAG-COM and latterly VCDS as it tended to log inappropriate fault codes every month, all of which were known about by VW and had been resolved by updated software - which they refused to believe that car's engine ECU needed so would not take on the task of reflashing the engine ECU even if I paid for it - so much for professional support. Roughly 12 false fault codes a year for almost 13 years soon adds up if you are paying the VW dealer to read/clear the logged fault codes - I sort of feel sorry for who ever buys that car which was traded in, but hopefully for that age and price of car, the buyer would have a scan tool. Don't get me started about Seat's inability to request the correct coding on the Ibiza BCM - that leaves a few people with a car that might or might not have flattened its battery. (will it start today??)

The 'Convenience' software has been upgraded. Time to wait and see.

Re: Hazard Warning Lights
At least VW are considering that some issues might be software related, I use my daughter's 6J Ibiza S/C now and again while she is in KL and it rewards me with a flattish battery if I don't use it every four days - battery is good, holds its charge if disconnected from car, but there is a history of 2009 1.4 Ibiza S/C being a model that got fitted with BCM that might just have wrong coding - Seat dealer just says car is faulty when asked to contact Seat UK about reflashing that module - muppets, I must attack this issue again!
