High petrol consumption BlueGT

Post by dillo161 »

Hi all,

I have a 2015 150PS Blue GT. About a month and a half ago, I took out the standard air box unit and fitted a cone filter. Since then, the petrol consumption has really fluctuated. Quite recently, the consumption have been very very bad. Any ideas on why this could be? Should I clean the MAF? Or will it be more wise just putting the original air box back on?

Thanks!

Could you be a bit more specific... what fuel mileage, what filter, driving style, dsg/manual etc.

I have seen this topic being discussed on a VAG forum already - sorry I can't say more than that, and the common answer seemed to be "put things back to how they were at start" - sorry, but I thought that I to pass that on although it is not what you want to hear.

You've given us the after but not the before which makes your question difficult to answer sensibly. If things are much worse after filter change you need to alter one of the other variables which would not be easy or go back to original specification. Could be that your cone is either defective or just rubbish and perhaps better suited to serving ice cream, I'll have a flake with mine please.
