Newbie, maunual clutch cable conversion-Arosa

Good morning nice Polo people.
We have a 1999 1.0 Arosa, which I am led to believe is essentially a 6N or 6N1??? not sure which.

I bought a manual clutch cable for a Mk2 Polo but it has a loop type pedal connection, ours is a nipple, it was also a bit shorter, though the original cable looks longer than it needs to be.

Has anyone done this? can anyone point me at the correct cable?

Its effectively a lupo, which is based on the 6N2 platform

What kind of clutch cable does it have at present? Normally they are auto adjusting to take up the slack as the cable wears with age

Yes they are auto adjust which is what I am trying to change.
I suspect the clutch is on it's last legs but without having control of the adjustment it's hard to tell.
Cable is creaky so needs renewing anyway.
Pedal box looks fine, pedal seems heavy for a 1.0 but I've never driven one before so wouldn't know.

I would say your clutch is on its way out. Release bearing sleeve is probably worn making the release arm stiff to operate

I wouldnt go changing the cable for a non auto-adjusting cable.

In fact, im not even sure these are autoadjusting come to think of it. The big clip in part is just to stabilise the cable and hold i to the firewall

Opinion seems divided, my local fators say the Firstline cable is auto but Pagid(ECP) online help say their 646440318 is definitely manual.
I'll order a Pagid and report back.

Does the release sleeve come with the release bearing?

No, the sleeve needs to be bought seperately

Think you were right about the cables Alex, both the original and the ECP cables are manual adjust, as you said the plastic case in the middle is just for the bulkhead mount.
New cable in and clutch still awful so I'll get the parts ordered next week for a half term clutch swap.

What else will I need on a 50K 1.0, drive shaft seals? gearbox mount?

Who makes the OEM clutches? or whose are worth fitting if you only want to do it once.

085141181 / 193VG0200 seems universal across most models, cheap enough why not include it in the kit?

Which of the following should I replace as a matter of course and which are better left alone:
Gearbox/engine mounts
Gearbox seal
D/S seals

Engine mounts wear over time, but only replace when failed

Gearbox shifter seal often leaks so worth replacing

Driveshaft seals seldom need replacing

SKS have got the Sachs for £63 all in, I'll order it in the morning.
Got the release slide & shift rod seal coming from GSF for £9 total.

What's the best gearbox oil for these? I normally buy synthetic.
