Door creaks from seals can be easily cured by cleaning all seals with weak washing up liquid solution then treating with something like Gummi Pflege, especially the top rubber on door that has a felt look. This sort of noise is common on lots of cars of all makes. On the boot issue, watching or reading any review would have told you the boot was shallower.

Yes u do have some valid complaints, and it's a shame u feel u have lots of faults, but some of them such as the wipers wernt even faults. Havent u give the dealer chance to rectify them

New GTI

I've had my GTI for nearly 3 months now and so far fault free motoring. I'm sure in time that will change as I've never owned a car that doesn't have a problem at some stage. Looking at an ST forum there are plenty of examples of people complaining about problems of all sorts on the greatest hot hatch that was ever made (apparently) so nothing new there. The boot on the current version of the GTI is smaller than the previous version and hasn't been any different as far as I'm aware so don't understand how the dealer could have said otherwise. If you don't like the car or the dealer isn't providing a good service then fair enough but sometimes I think there is a danger of being spooked by all the bad press VW is getting at the moment.

Name and shame the VW dealer and sales contact person, they have failed you and the brand they represent badly, maybe they should try their hand at doing something else, remember it was that person that you bought that car from.

VW, all the other faults excluding the boot space issue are shocking, they should not have existed by the time that car landed on that dealer's compound - that is for the dealer to moan about.

Boot space being terrible when a space saver is fitted - are you sure that what is being complained about is not the flexible "two height" boot floor? I find it both handy (you can make the boot in its "small" capacity look tidy while underneath there is a complete mess of "handy much needed stuff") and very annoying, but so far I've kept the upper floor in place for normal use, if travelling further a field with cases in the boot, I'd probably tidy the boot and store the upper floor where it is meant to be stored (vertically behind the seat backs).

To sum up, I don't think that your other half is being allowed to join the VAG family - so be it! (I used to be a Ford only driver, but I ran out of patience for my car in 1991 and my wife's car in 2002). Only valid issue about this size of VW is, it is a Skoda in better clothes, though maybe a better car in this guise that it was back in 2002, my Fords tended to be Ghias, but they were never more than being a Ford. My old Passat was great, but it was just an old Audi design re-clothed by VW, my Audi S4 is nice!

Edit:- ah, I missed the other thread you stuffed this into of the same name, also forgot that GTI gets battery stuffed in the boot, so maybe your boot comments really do reflect what it is like, one thing though, "GT" stands for Grande Tourismo and that implies a car fit for touring, so really a boot with space is needed! When I bought my Audi S4, I thought that it would be easy to swop the proper skinny space saver for a full sized wheel - wrong, the battery lives there!
