Pollen filter

Post by MattCardiff »

Hi guys, having a few issues with smelly air con and condensation build up inside my 64 plate Polo (I think I'm in the correct forum?!). I've done a bit of googling for both issues and people have suggested checking if the pollen filter is blocked. Is it easy to locate/check the pollen filter? Or do I have to remove lots of parts to get to it? Grateful if anyone can advise, thanks.

Smelling A/C - if you regularly use the chiller part of it, moisture will be getting left in the "air side" of the chiller and will go stale, this is why cleaners are sold ie to kill any algae in the moisture. I tend to leave the A/C chiller function off when the weather is not hot enough to justify it, which means every time I've used the DEMISTER function, I need to deselect the chiller, also after any times that the chiller has been running, for the last few miles of the journey, I've demanded "LO" temperature (without the chiller running) as this forces air round the evaporator and strips the cold out of it so that no moisture condenses on it.

Excellent, looks too easy (I must check wife's car as I think that it has covers over that area, unlike her 2003 Polo which had no covers for that area - but any other Polo I looked at had?).

Couple of tips, do not get your head under that area while taking the filter out or you will get dust etc in your eyes, make sure that L shaped cover is fitted fully or these retaining clips will just fall off and make you angry!!
