stiffer damper recommendation on 1.4 TDI Match

I'm wondering if anyone can recommend stiffer dampers for my 1.4 3-pot PD TDI Match. I'm perfectly happy with the ride height (have to deal with some crap roads, and also carry the old folks) - but am really not liking the body control, especially when pressing on in the twisties. I usually tend to try and keep it OEM, so would using GTI dampers work? Are the front strut dimensions (where the damper slides inside it) the same?
