Polo 2011 electrics detective wanted

My car is 4 yrs old,15k, never had a problem. Went in for an MOT, came out with two warning lights (the brakes and EPC). Taken it to two specialist garages who read a faulty code yet have no idea how to fix it, or how it happened. Apparently the car seems fine. One has just replaced the accelerator pedal (thinking it's the electrics inside that) but to no avail. The car feels weak. I need a Colombo of the VW car world to help me out here!!

I would be pointing my finger at the brake pedal switch? It may still work but they are dual circuit iirc, I'd be looking to change that... Fairly easy to do DIY with an online guide.
