headlight bulbs

Post by mk4 glx 1.6 »

Firstly hi to all as I'm new to the site !!

just wanted to upgrade my headlight bulbs but having real problems undoing the spring release catch in order to enable access to the bulbs themselves.

Cannot actually get my head in the engine bay enough to see how they should be released !! so I thought I would ask for help !!

I've checked the manual etc, but its not clear how they release and I don't want to get frustrated with them and damage them !!

Your advice would be greatly appreciated on this matter !!

I have changed the replaced the vented brake discs and pads and can do routine servicing, but this has just foxed me !!!

they are hard to remove but take your time and they will come off, they release from the bottom i think, just unclip it from the bottom and bingo...bobs ya uncle!

My brothers got a s-reg polo match (was until he modified it!).

We changed headlight bulbs other day. I think thay are H4 bulbs.

Remove rubber grommet at back.
pull off the black wire thing that connects to back of bulb.
push spring clip in hard at bottom. it should then pivot away and then bulb should come out.

then put new bulb in, push spring back and then connect up wires. Hey presto its done.

tdisport.

P.S - id recommend philips vision plus they are really white and clear. if budget allows get PIAA super plasma bulbs. They are nearest thing 2 HID.
