VW build weeks correspond to calendar weeks. Calendar week 35 spans the end of August and beginning of September.
Polos are built in South Africa and Spain so once your car has been built, you need to allow for transportation time from the factory to your dealer in the UK. It took around 4 weeks for my (Spanish built) Polo to get to my dealer. Therefore, I think you having your car by September is a little optimistic if it's not being built until the very end of Aug/beginning of Sep.
The wait begins...............it will be worth it though. What colour have you gone for, and are you having a 3 or 5 door?
@Baxgttdi - I'd been checking online and chatting with VW chat ever since I got my order number during first week of July. It's only today after contacting the VW garage to let them know I sold my car and I asked if they had a build week, which they confirmed.
The online order tracker still shows with factory.
Hi, I ordered my R Line 1.2 TSI pearlescent black 1st May and collected it 9th July although it came in to showroom 4th July from Spain.
Was worth the wait you will love it.

Going to collect the car this Saturday.
I need to decide if I want to get the gap insurance. What do you guys think. Should I get it from VW or from a third party?
Cheers,

Congratulations. Enjoy your new car!
Don't buy GAP insurance from VW; it's ridiculously expensive! Much better to buy from one of specialist GAP insurers or brokers. I've got GAP insurance and bought it from ALA.
The GAP insurers that seem to get regular mentions on other forums I visit are ALA, Direct Gap and Gap Insurance 123. I think GAP Insurance 123 tends to be the cheapest, but other insurers sometimes offer price matching guarantees. Make sure that any quotes you get on the basis of new vehicle replacement and not 'return to invoice'. It's also worth checking the internet for discount codes. VP10 did work for ALA back in March and gave a 10% discount. ALA also have a price match guarantee where they'll match a competitor's cheaper price and undercut it by 20% of the difference in price.

Thanks @SRGTD. VW quoted over £300 for the 'return to invoice' gap insurance. Does it matter that I have the car on finance when taking out new vehicle replace gap insurance?
I paid £168.40 for 4 years new vehicle replacement cover with ALA on my Polo GTI. This included a 10% discount using the VP10 discount code, plus a price matching discount because I'd got a cheaper quote from one of the other GAP insurers.
ALA include the issue of what GAP cover to buy if you're buying your car on finance under the FAQ section on their website and I expect other GAP insurers do too, so this may give you the answer to your question. If not, it's worth giving them (or any other GAP insurer) a call and I'm sure they'll be able to advise you.
I picked up my SEL 1.0 110 on Friday. Have done 300 miles together so far!
The engine is practically silent between 0-3000 revs - and therefore it gains speed in a rather scary manner! Gearbox is tight and the 6 gears keep you in the torque band.
Very pleased with mine so far! Enjoy yours when it arrives!
P.S. It took 13 weeks for my 3 door to come from the Factory.
Hi everyone, new to the forum! I ordered my Polo GTI 6C on the 11th September 2016 and still not heard anything of a build date or tracking number? Is this unusual? Thanks

Based on my experience, it seems unusual. On the day I agreed the deal on my Polo GTI last October, the dealer ordered the car in the afternoon and provided me with my tracking number that same afternoon. They told me that once the order details have been input, they get a tracking number.
I know that for some VW models, dealers have a restriction on the number of orders they can place each month. I don't know if the Polo GTI is one of these models but if it is, your dealer may have accepted more customer orders (including yours) in September than their monthly allocation and they are having to wait until this month / next month before they can submit the excess orders to VW. I'd ask your dealer if they've ordered your car yet. If they have, then they ought to be able to give you the tracking number.
