Are there actually any aftermarket parts for the 6C?!
Looked around everywhere and can't find anywhere making aftermarket brake pads or anything to be honest! Most i can find are ecu maps which aren't really of any use to me to be honest. Not yet anyway!

Same here , every time i get a new car i have a good look round for anything that may enhance my new car , there are usually plenty , but not this one. Perhaps it is because it is quite new ? It is the newest car we have had afterall. Apart from upgrade/ led bulbs that is all i can really find at the moment and the usual power boost stuff. I am sure there will be some appearing as it gets older , also as our car is under Manufacturers Warranty until 2019 i won't be altering much.

For things like brake pads and discs, for instance, I'd think that you would need to dig a bit deeper, for instance, find out the VAG p/ns of pads/discs for current car and check if they are the same for original 6R cars - or that these p/ns were used any where in the earlier car range.
It will take some time for packaging of aftermarket parts to reflect these newer models.

What you looking for Joe?
Lowering springs are same as 6R GTI +930kg
Front brakes are same as older Golfs 288mm discs and pads to fit.
Intake is same as S1 if you want to change for an induction kit. Or K&N and Pipercross do panel filters for it.
Numerous companies doing exhausts. Milltek, Cobra Scorpion.

Thanks, thats pretty handy info actually as i looked on EBC for some yellowstuff pads and even entering in the correct info for my Polo the pads they had on offer were not the right size 288mm which is 6R is it not?WULLIE wrote:What you looking for Joe?

Front brakes are same as Octavia VRS 312mm discs and pads to fit. Also same as fronts on Audi S1.

Not sure if i want to lower it as i quite like the comfy ride and also the dampers and a few other things are different than the 6R so they might not match too well. Im also not into the whole dub thing so would probably only want to go -15mm
Are there any other VAG wheels the same size, offset, fitment etc as i quite like the idea of some track wheels.
Re: Are there actually any aftermarket parts for the 6C?!
I know the new golf/leon wheels won't fot as they are a different PCD. Anything from the last Fabia/Ibiza/Polo group will fit, think the PCD is 5X100. Not sure on offset but should be stamped inside each wheel
Think the issue with lowering is the harshness of the springs. You start to lose fillings and the car resembles a fiesta st shaking over every uneven mm of road surface. Standard is but just sits a bit too high.

Aha! Nice one! Might have to get a set of the yellow stuff for the front when the current ones have had it!
Re: Are there actually any aftermarket parts for the 6C?!
Joe, having checked myself the discs are actually the 288mm not 312mm.
They are apparently easy to upgrade by swapping the carriers that hold the caliper. The caliper used on both sizes are meant to be the same so pad fitment is the same as 312. But the std discs are 288.

Polo GTI 6C has 312mm front brake disc, not 288mm. At least on my car...

Funny you say that attim. I read thst the 6c had an upgrade over the 6r ftom 288 to the 312. So initially believed it.
However,I also have a Leon FR184 and measured the discs on it as the calipers look slightly different. They measure at 312 then measured my 6cGTI and they are only 288.
Very strange!
Have you actually held a measure to them to confirm?

Yes, this is not an opinion, I did a measurement with wheel off. Maybe not 312 but 310 - it's not easy to measure disc precisely.

Hmm. Anyone else measured theirs?attim wrote:Yes, this is not an opinion, I did a measurement with wheel off. Maybe not 312 but 310 - it's not easy to measure disc precisely.
I get what you're saying about measuring not easy to be exact but I could clearly see mine were measuring a bit less than the Leon FR which were around the 312mm mark
