What tires are people running on the 1.2 TSI? I currently have continental premium contact 2 on all four wheels but the front ones are looking a little bald so I'm getting some new ones just wondering what your all using anyone know of any better alternatives? I've been quoted around £80 per tire for the continentals so I'm looking for some around that mark. Thanks in advance

My R-Line came with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx 215/45/16
Can't fault them. Again, they're around the £80 mark iirc.

I was looking at them as well as the pirrellis whats the grip like in the wet? Mine slide about all over the place in wet conditions especially with all the grit about now

I've never had the car understeer in the wet. Even with the recent cold weather and slippy roads I've had good confidence in these tyres.Asamoli wrote:I was looking at them as well as the pirrellis whats the grip like in the wet? They seem an all round great tyre in the wet , dry and for fuel economy.
I've also covered 11,000 miles in them since March and there's still plenty of tread left (I don't see me needing to replace these for at least another year)

Maybe you are living in an area of UK that is getting a lot of salt being spread on the roads to melt ice and snow, when that builds up on a road surface, it will cause a lose of grip when the road is dry.Asamoli wrote:I'll definitely consider them when I buy my new ones thanks

One thing to watch out for is, if you aim to buy premium tyres, they might just end up being premium summer tyres and dangerous in winter conditions. I know from experience of Michelins and now use Michelin Alpins with 15" wheels in winter. Wife's Polo came with Conti's back in August 2015 - seem okay in summer/warm weather.
Pirelli - I have P Zero Rosso on my 2011 S4 in summer only, mainly as that car came with them from factory and they cheap and do their job, can't say that I would ever consider them for the August 2015 Polo when the time comes - but they might be okay/good as an "all year round tyre".
Just my two pence!
