Anyone removed the material from the underside of the bonnet?

Saw it the other day falling off and wondered if i'd miss it.

I understand it softens the engine noise and it a fire preventer.. but just curious if it can be done or if anyone else has done it.

Very easy to remove takes about 1 minute, push the two ends of the clips together and pull out doesn't require a much force, then carefully remove. Careful not to bend they quite fragile, and can get £50 for them . Mines falling off but I have dynamat behind it (if anything hits the bonnet sounds like it hit a tank/volvo) and i cba removing the dynamat
