Fitting AUX adapter to back of radio RCD210
Fitting AUX adapter to back of radio RCD210
My husband has fitted an AUX adapter to the back of my son's radio RCD210 on his 2010 POLO. He followed the intsructions that he found on line. My son went to plug in his phone to play his music and nothing! He pressed the CD buttom as there is not an AUX button and it came up with NO CD. Is there anything really simple that we are missing here?

Re: Fitting AUX adapter to back of radio RCD210
Hi Gill,
I've done a load of research into this myself as I too have the rcd210 and wanted an aux function too...
Basically to summarise you can't simply plug an aux adapter into the rcd210 even through the use of the 'official' adapter plugging into this slot-
In order to enable aux on the rcd210 you can
A) go to VW garage and ask them to enable the aux function (has to be decoded using software) and will cost around £80
B) use a media converter that plugs into CD player cable port (means CD player won't be functioning) that converts aux function for the cd data costing around £20 (I bought one for my 2012 Volkswagen Polo 6R and does not fit so is a touch and go with regards to getting the right one)-
If I was you I would buy a decoded RCD310 which is the next radio up from the RCD210 off eBay for around £50... this has aux enabled standard.. to fit this you will require a double Ariel adapter because the rcd 210 has a single antenna as only FM waves are received... this can all be picked up for £60 easy...
Additionally is plug and play meaning all the cables in your current polo with fit minus the aerial adaptor I mentioned above....
Hope this helped I'm still super new to all this and this information is just what I've gathered over the last few weeks.

Hi Rohan,
Thank you so much for your advice. I think that we will look around for a second hand RCD310 as you have suggested as it seems like a lot less hassle. We followed very informative instructions on "Automotivediy" on installing the cable, but no mention of taking it to the VW dealer afterwards!
Again many thanks

also, the rcd supports speakers in the rear doors, if you ever fancy the upgrade.

No worries, Glad I could help. I'm hoping to do a bunch of mods myself when I have the time.

Hi, I have just upgraded to the RCD310, could someone link me the aux cable with white adapter they used because the one i've bought won't fit in the quadlock. Thanks
