Hello, I share a mint 2001 1.4 auto with my sister. 71,000 miles & we’ve owned the car for nearly 14 yrs. It sailed through its mot yesterday (always does) Just had a call from my sister saying the led strip above the rear screen flashes whenever she brakes. A work colleague was following her & told her. It’s never done it before. Any ideas?
No parts were needed for mot & it was ok before it. The other day she accidentally left the handbrake on the first notch & got a beeping noise. Has this anything to do with the flashing light?

The beeping is normal - its to remind you the hand brake is on when you are moving

As for the flashing light, it sounds like the LED cluster has failed. Its not repairable, so will need to be replaced. Theres two grommets on the inside of the bootlid which release two catches so it can be withdrawn from the bootlid

Yep totally failed now. How much are they to replace.
I’ll take it to a garage as spanner’s electrics & me don’t mix lol
