squeeking from left hand side of car, HELP!

Post by kapur »

Was driving my car as usual today, then i started hearing some squeeking/screeching sounds from the left hand side of the car at low speed!

Also, when i apply the brake, theirs little screeching then aswell!!

Is it my brake pads? Or the discs?

It's only recently come back from service, i'm pretty shocked that it's even making the noises it is!

all advice appreciated! thnx in advance!

mine used to do this, the bit around the brake drum was catching the drum at the back, not sure if ive explained this properly. My dad fixed it by bending out the bit around the drum and then it was fine :P

Got a XEROX problem! lol! Exactly the same, it's quite annoying, knowing that it only recently came from it's 20k service! :?

i doubt i'll take it back, they can check it at it's next service!

Mine has discs all round!

I doubt it's the brakes! It could be, not ruling it out!

Just that it made the noise at low speed round a bend, EXACTLY the same as polopowah!!!

without applying the brake and letting it roll at about 10/15mph it makes the noise!

Can only hear it from the left hand side, while going round a bend towards the right!

I cant remember hearing it from the drivers side of the car!

alright mate the noise u on about is from your brakes its due to dust build up causing the brakes to bind (stick) it requires stripping and cleaning
i am a vw mechanic we get this very often

Hi, whats the worst that could happen if i don't treat it?

I'm not really bothered about it!

But you know, the service should've been done proper, then it wouldn't squeek either.

Do you suggest i take it back to VW?

Will they charge me?

I'm not paying a single penny! Paid a bomb for the service as is, n dey dint even do anything! lazy sodz!

i can tell you one thing - dont listen to a vw mechanic.

mine went back 18 times for squeaking from the rear brake system. sometimes i couldnt get the car off the drive as the brakes were stuck on. and they were getting the same fault at the garage but couldnt find the fault. the latest idea is that the handbrake pipe has corroded causing the handbrake to stick. maybe this time they are right as i went through a set of disks in 6 months. who knows!!

according to the garage manager there is a problem with the brakes on all vw's but vw wont admit it.
